The original deal gave WMG access to what it calls &#8220;Africa\u2019s largest catalog and A&amp;R network&#8221;, as well as enabling WMG to establish a presence in many African markets for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, WMG&#8217;s publishing division, Warner Chappell Music, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/warner-chappell-music-inks-global-deal-with-africa-based-music-company-africori\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inked<\/a> a global deal with Africori, also in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #1\" data-params=\"dfp_spu1\" id=\"dfp_spu1\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/p>\n<p>According to a media release announcing today&#8217;s news, WMG says that its decision to take a majority stake in Africori could see it &#8220;become the number one distributor in Africa&#8221; and furthermore, that the deal &#8220;will open up more opportunities for African artists to tap into the global Warner Music network and enjoy international success&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>WMG cites South African artist Master KG as an artist success story to have come from the companies working together, having &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/elektra-france-inks-exclusive-deal-with-south-african-artist-master-kg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">upstreamed&#8221;
