New York-headquartered\u00a0Reservoir Media, in conjunction with MENA-based music publisher and music company PopArabia<\/a> has acquired Lebanese label and music publisher, Voice of Beirut.<\/p>\n

Reservoir says that the acquisition builds on its emerging markets strategy, “further diversifying the company\u2019s music rights in the fast-growing MENA region”.<\/p>\n

In May, Reservoir and PopArabia acquired<\/a> Egyptian label 100COPIES, and also formed a joint venture with the company to sign and develop Egyptian talent.<\/p>\n

Separately, also in May, Reservoir and PopArabia signed Egyptian rapper and singer Mohamed Ramadan to a worldwide publishing deal.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1980, Voice of Beirut catalog includes recording and publishing rights to nearly 3,000 songs that Reservoir calls “a cross-section of Lebanese pop from the 1980s through to the mid-90″s.<\/p>\n

The catalog includes albums by Arab stars including Syrian artist George Wassouf, who has sold over 60 million records worldwide.<\/p>\n

It also includes Lebanese artist and television star, Ragheb Alama; as well as music by Lebanese composer Ziad Rahbani and actress and singer Sabah.<\/p>\n

Last month,\u00a0 Reservoir<\/a>\u00a0Media published<\/a> the financial results for its fiscal Q1 2023 (calendar Q2, 2022), ended June 30.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Reservoir<\/a>\u2019s SEC filing, the company\u2019s total revenues (including recorded music and publishing), in the three months ended June 30, increased by\u00a046%<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0$24.3 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n
