R&B singer-songwriter Jeremih has partnered with investment firm HarbourView Equity Partners in a deal that sees the acquisition of \u201cselect recorded and publishing assets\u201d from the artist’s catalog.<\/p>\n
The agreement expands HarbourView\u2019s presence in the R&B and hip-hop space. Jeremih, known for his fusion of R&B, hip-hop, and pop, as well as his smooth vocals and catchy melodies, boasts chart-topping hits like Birthday Sex, Oui,<\/strong> <\/i>the 5x multi-Platinum certified hit Don’t Tell Em,<\/i><\/strong> as well as All The Time, Down on Me, <\/i><\/strong>and Impatient.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n His debut hit single, Birthday Sex, <\/i>remained on the Billboard Top 10 chart<\/strong> for\u00a020 weeks in 2009. On Spotify, Birthday Sex<\/i> has amassed over 439 million streams<\/a><\/strong> to date.<\/p>\n Since the track\u2019s success, the artist has dropped three studio albums and collaborated with major artists such as 50 Cent, YG, Lil Wayne, <\/strong>and Ty Dolla $ign,<\/strong> among others.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t Tell \u2018Em<\/i>, released in 2014, earned Jeremih an iHeart Radio Music Award<\/strong> for Hip-Hop\/R&B Song of the Year. Heidy Vaquerano<\/strong> and Cynthia Katz<\/strong> of Fox Rothschild LLP<\/strong> served as legal counsel to HarbourView in the transaction, while Jeremih was represented by Guy Blake<\/strong> and Granderson Des Rochers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n HarbourView, a Newark, NJ-based multi-strategy investment firm specializing in entertainment and media assets, has acquired over 45<\/strong> music catalogs to date, spanning a number of genres, eras, and artists, boasting a diverse catalog of approximately 26,500<\/strong> songs across both master recordings and publishing income streams. The company was founded by Soares, a former CEO of Tempo Music, in 2021.<\/p>\n The acquisition of some recorded and publishing assets from Jeremih\u2019s catalog came over a month after HarbourView amended its senior secured credit facility, led by Fifth Third Bank<\/strong>, to buy more music rights. The capacity of the credit facility has been increased to $300 million<\/strong><\/a> from $100 million.<\/p>\n HarbourView\u2019s most recent deals include the acquisition of select publishing assets of country star Kane Brown<\/a><\/strong>, Christine McVie\u2019s<\/strong> share<\/a> of Fleetwood Mac\u2019s<\/strong> recorded music royalties from the late artist\u2019s estate and a share of \u201cselect\u201d recorded music and publishing assets from Grammy Award-winning artists Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n In July, HarbourView bought \u201cselect recorded music and publishing assets\u201d of Wiz Khalifa<\/strong><\/a>, which was announced just hours after it was revealed the company had acquired \u201cselect recorded music assets\u201d of Grammy Award<\/strong>-winning rapper Nelly<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n HarbourView\u2019s portfolio also includes publishing catalogs from country music artists\u00a0Lady A and Brad Paisley<\/span><\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0the publishing catalog of Latin music superstar\u00a0Luis Fonsi<\/span><\/a>,<\/strong> Big Loud Mountain Music\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> publisher share of select songs from the catalog of country music duo Florida Georgia Line<\/strong>, the music publishing catalog of Incubus<\/strong>, and the catalog of SoundHouse Acquisitions LLC<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
