NewJeans, seeking to prevent the group\u2019s members from pursuing independent activities without company approval.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The legal action, filed with the <b>Seoul Central District Court<\/b>, follows an earlier lawsuit filed by <b>ADOR<\/b> on December 3, 2024, which sought to confirm the validity of its exclusive contracts with <b>NewJeans<\/b> members.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">ADOR is now seeking to protect its position as the group&#8217;s exclusive management agency, the label told <i>MBW <\/i>in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Citing court documents, ADOR said the NewJeans members had attempted to terminate their contracts unilaterally and began pursuing independent promotional agreements with advertisers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div acknowledging that the legal proceedings \u201cmay take considerable time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cTo address immediate concerns and prevent further disruptions, ADOR has been compelled to pursue additional injunction,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The injunction seeks to maintain the current relationship between ADOR and NewJeans until the court reaches a final decision on the href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/newjeans-just-held-a-press-conference-to-announce-theyve-left-hybes-ador-but-the-k-pop-giant-says-their-deal-is-still-in-full-effect1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stressed<\/a> that NewJeans don\u2019t have grounds to terminate their exclusive contract, and it remains \u201cin full effect.\u201d That statement came in response to a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybes-newjeans-fallout-is-getting-tenser-by-the-day-as-new-ceo-says-hybe-is-a-company-which-follows-the-rules-and-pursues-precision-management12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> press conference<\/a> held by the group on November 28, 2024, where member Hanni said that ADOR \u201chas neither the ability nor the will to protect\u201d NewJeans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cStaying at the agency will only prolong our psychological pain and waste our time,\u201d <b>Hanni<\/b> was <a href=\"https:\/\/koreajoongangdaily.joins.com\/news\/2024-11-28\/business\/industry\/NewJeans-members-to-terminate-contract-with-ADOR\/2188944\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quoted<\/a> by <i>Korea JoongAng Daily<\/i> as saying at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NewJeans members have sided with <b>Min Hee-jin<\/b>, ADOR\u2019s former CEO and NewJeans\u2019 creative director, in a conflict that became public last spring, when HYBE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybe-confirms-audit-of-ador-ceo-over-reported-attempt-to-seize-control12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused<\/a> Min of attempting to wrest control of ADOR away from its parent company by selling company shares and leaking confidential information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Most recently, ADOR said that despite the ongoing legal dispute, it remains committed to supporting NewJeans. The company says it has continued to provide necessary resources and facilities to the group, viewing their exclusive agreement as still valid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The label says the case could set a precedent for South Korea\u2019s entertainment sector. ADOR argues that allowing artists to terminate exclusive contracts unilaterally, without proper legal procedures, could discourage investment in K-pop, &#8220;destabilizing the foundation of the K-pop sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The label added: \u201cADOR has received external proposals for various projects, such as advertisements and promotional events, and has finalized plans for this year\u2019s activities, including the release of a studio album and fan meets.
