Amazon has around 11% market share of global subscriber volume, per MIDiA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.midiaresearch.com\/blog\/music-subscriber-market-shares-2023-new-momentum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Amazon&#8217;s streaming service has undergone several price adjustments in recent years. The company began <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/amazon-music-streaming-prices-to-rise-in-us-uk-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increasing rates<\/a> in May 2022 when it raised Prime member fees to<strong> $8.99<\/strong>. This was followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/amazon-music-raises-standard-monthly-subscription-price-from-9-99-to-10-99-spotify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increases<\/a> for non-Prime members to<strong> $10.99<\/strong> in January 2023 and another adjustment for Prime members to <strong>$9.99<\/strong> in August 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Amazon continues to offer multiple tiers of music streaming services. Besides the premium Unlimited service, users can access Amazon Music Free, an ad-supported option, and Amazon Music Prime, included with Prime memberships, offering podcast and shuffle music listening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAmazon Music Unlimited offers 100 million songs in lossless HD quality, millions of tracks in Ultra HD, and thousands of expert-programmed playlists and stations,\u201d Amazon Music says on its FAQ page.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #2\" data-params=\"dfp_spu2\" id=\"dfp_spu2\"><\/div>      <\/div>      \n<p>The price rise comes just over a month after Universal Music Group and Amazon Music <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-group-and-amazon-music-ink-new-deal-covering-exclusive-content-and-with-streaming-2-0-at-its-heart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> renewed<\/a> their worldwide licensing deal.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release about UMG&#8217;s Amazon agreement, the deal encompasses an &#8220;<strong>expanded global relationship<\/strong> that will enable further innovation, <strong>exclusive content<\/strong> with UMG artists, and <strong>advancement of artist-centric principles<\/strong> including increased <strong>fraud protection<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The PR claimed that the deal will ensure that &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UMG\u2019s artists achieve their <strong>commercial potential<\/strong> through [Amazon Music&#8217;s] continued <strong>product enhancements<\/strong> and <strong>exclusive content<\/strong> that <strong>elevate authentic engagement<\/strong> <strong>between artists and fans<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Amazon price adjustments reflect a broader trend in the streaming sector, where major providers have rolled out similar increases to keep up with rising inflation and to expand their offerings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Video streaming giant <strong>Netflix<\/strong> recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/with-latest-price-increase-netflixs-standard-account-now-costs-72-more-per-year-than-spotify-in-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased<\/a> its subscription prices in the US for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/netflix-raises-prices-it-adds-9-million-subscribers-2023-10-18\/\">first time in nearly a year-and-a-half<\/a>. The cost of Netflix\u2019s ad-free Standard plan, which allows for two simultaneous HD streams, has been raised by<b>\u00a0$2.50\u00a0<\/b>per month, to\u00a0<b>$17.99\u00a0<\/b>from<b>\u00a0$15.49<\/b>. The Premium tier, meanwhile, now costs\u00a0<b>$24.99<\/b>, up $2 from\u00a0<b>$22.99<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Earlier this month, video on-demand streaming service <strong>Discovery+<\/strong>, owned by <strong>Warner Bros.
