{"id":227032,"date":"2025-03-24T12:06:25","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T12:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/?p=227032"},"modified":"2025-03-24T15:38:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T15:38:18","slug":"concord-acquires-stem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/concord-acquires-stem\/","title":{"rendered":"Confirmed: Concord acquires Stem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Concord has, as expected, fully acquired Los Angeles-based music distribution platform Stem.<\/p>\n<p>MBW&#8217;s sources <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/concord-to-acquire-stem-in-50m-deal-say-mbw-sources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told us<\/a> earlier this month that <strong>Concord<\/strong> was buying the distribution platform, suggesting a <strong>high <\/strong><strong>eight-figure dollar deal <\/strong>somewhere above $50 million.<\/p>\n<p>The official announcement of the acquisition today (March 24) reveals that as well as buying Stem, <strong>Concord<\/strong> is making an additional investment into <strong>Tone,<\/strong> a royalty accounting and financial tools platform launched by Stem&#8217;s management team in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tone<\/strong> is being spun off and will operate as an independent\/standalone business going forward.<\/p>\n<p>Stem itself will now operate as a &#8220;separate division&#8221; within <strong>Concord Label Group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As a subsidiary of Concord, <strong>Stem<\/strong> will be led by its existing CEO, <strong>Milana Lewis<\/strong>, and President, <strong>Kristin Graziani. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__tweeny hidden-xs hidden-ms hidden-sm\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-sizes=\"992 1200 1440\" data-name=\"628x90 Sponsor banner #5 (992+1200+1440)\" data-params=\"dfp_sponsor5_628\" id=\"dfp_sponsor5_628\"><\/div>      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__banner mb-advert__banner--inline hidden-xs hidden-sm hidden-md hidden-lg\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-sizes=\"480\" data-name=\"468x60 Sponsor banner #5 (480)\" data-params=\"dfp_sponsor5_468\" id=\"dfp_sponsor5_468\"><\/div>      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__mobile mb-advert__mobile--inline hidden-ms hidden-md hidden-lg\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-sizes=\"320 768\" data-name=\"300x50 Sponsor banner #5 (320+768)\" data-params=\"dfp_sponsor5_300\" id=\"dfp_sponsor5_300\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/p>\n<p><strong>Stem<\/strong> is described by <strong>Concord<\/strong> as a &#8220;platform designed by musicians for musicians, providing personalized distribution, digital strategy, data-driven insights, playlisting, and more for independent artists and labels&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The companies said that current staffing and operations are not anticipated to be affected by the deal.
