This week\u00a0we got some interesting Spotify<\/strong>-related news, with the streaming service revealing\u00a0that it has seen a significant uptick in conversions<\/strong> to paid subscriptions on Apple<\/strong> devices, ever since Apple was ordered\u00a0by a court order to allow third-party app developers to direct users to payment systems outside the Apple Store.<\/p>\n

Also in Spotify news, regulatory filings showed that company co-founder Martin Lorentzon<\/strong> sold a whopping $666 million<\/strong> of his Spotify shares in the space of a week.<\/p>\n

We also got word this week that Universal Music Group<\/strong>‘s Latin artist services company Global Talent Services<\/strong> (GTS<\/strong>) has acquired Latin music management company RLM<\/strong> (Rosa Laguarrige Management<\/strong>), which will be integrated into GTS.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, a news report out of South Korea pointed to the possible next target of K-pop giant HYBE<\/strong>‘s global expansion: India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And closer to home, MBW<\/em> revealed its new Music Business Jobs<\/strong> platform, connecting industry professionals with top career opportunities.<\/p>\n

Spotify<\/strong> co-founder Martin Lorentzon<\/strong> has offloaded a mountain of shares in the streaming giant.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, May 21, Lorentzon sold 1 million shares<\/strong> at Tuesday\u2019s closing price of $658.60<\/strong> per share, raising a total of $658.6 million<\/strong>. That\u2019s right: nearly $659 million in ONE GO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The sale was executed through his holding company Rosello Co. Ltd<\/strong>, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, spotted by MBW<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The divestment came just five days after Lorentzon unloaded another 11,275 shares<\/strong> for $7.3 million<\/strong> on Friday (May 16), which was filed with the SEC under his full name, Sven Hans Martin Lorentzon, instead of his holding company Rosello…<\/p>\n

<\/figure>2) UNIVERSAL\u2019S GTS ACQUIRES LATIN MUSIC MANAGEMENT COMPANY RLM<\/a><\/span><\/h6>\n

Universal Music Group<\/strong>-owned Latin artist services agency Global Talent Services<\/strong> (GTS<\/strong>) has acquired prominent Latin music management company RLM<\/strong> (Rosa Lagarrigue Management<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

GTS said on Monday (May 19) that since RLM\u2019s founding in 1980, the Spain-headquartered management company \u201chas been a benchmark in the development of artistic talent worldwide\u201d.<\/p>\n

Led by founder Rosa Lagarrigue<\/strong>, the company has worked with artists like Miguel Bos\u00e9<\/strong>, Mecano<\/strong>, Alejandro Sanz<\/strong>, Raphael<\/strong>, Sara Baras<\/strong>, Rozal\u00e9n<\/strong>, and Marlena<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

Lagarrigue will join the GTS leadership as Global Executive Vice President, alongside the RLM team, which will be integrated into the company…<\/p>\n

Spotify<\/strong> said its iOS app update, approved by Apple<\/strong> earlier this month, drove \u201ca significant increase\u201d in conversions<\/strong> from free to Premium subscriptions.<\/p>\n

On May 2, Spotify said Apple approved its app updated in the US, a move that was prompted by a federal court ruling that found Apple in \u201cwillful violation\u201d of a previous injunction against its App store practices.<\/p>\n

Spotify users on Apple devices are now able to use other payment options<\/strong> beyond Apple Pay<\/strong>. Previously, apps were barred from mentioning alternative payment options or indicating that external payments might be less secure.<\/p>\n

Spotify is among the first to update its app, the result of a legal battle that began with Epic Games<\/strong>\u2019 2020 lawsuit challenging Apple\u2018s app distribution policies…<\/p>\n

HYBE<\/strong> is becoming a truly global entertainment giant.<\/p>\n

Over the past few years, the South Korea-born K-Pop firm has expanded into Japan<\/strong>, followed by the United States<\/strong> and, most recently, Latin America<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But the company\u2019s global ambitions clearly don\u2019t stop there. The big question is, where in the world is HYBE planning to expand to next?<\/p>\n

The answer may have arrived via a recent story published by South Korean news agency Yonhap<\/em>, which, citing sources in the investment community, reported that HYBE is planning to establish an office in Mumbai, India<\/strong>…<\/p>\n
