{"id":234156,"date":"2025-06-16T20:29:40","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T19:29:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/?p=234156"},"modified":"2025-06-17T19:43:42","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T18:43:42","slug":"sony-music-entertainment-japan-acquires-global-rights-to-spookiz-animation-franchise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/sony-music-entertainment-japan-acquires-global-rights-to-spookiz-animation-franchise\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony Music Entertainment Japan acquires &#8216;full rights&#8217; to Spookiz animation franchise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sme.co.jp\/en\/company\/groupcompanies\/sml\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sony Music Labels, <\/a>the recorded music division of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, has acquired the &#8220;full rights&#8221; to the popular <i>Spookiz <\/i>animated series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This marks the first time that Sony Music Labels has come to acquire animated character content.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The deal gives<b> Sony Music Labels<\/b> control over the globally distributed content that has accumulated<b> 6.1 million<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@spookiz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>YouTube<\/b><\/a> subscribers and more than<b> 3.1 billion<\/b> total views.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The agreement also includes rights to existing <b>Spookiz<\/b> social media channels across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/spookizworld\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Instagram<\/b><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@spookizworld\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>TikTok<\/b><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Spookiz_world\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>X<\/b><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/spookizworld\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Facebook<\/b><\/a>, along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/spookizworld.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Spookiz centers on five monster characters who come to life at an elementary school after hours.
