Technologies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/music-making-platform-bandlab-launches-sync-licensing-program-for-its-60m-registered-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> a service called\u00a0 \u2018BandLab Licensing\u2018 that offers sync and licensing\u00a0opportunities for film, TV, games, and advertising.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Now, the platform, which counts\u00a0over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/music-making-app-bandlab-surpasses-100-million-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>100 million<\/b> creators<\/a>, has expanded its music licensing service, introducing what it calls &#8220;a structure with clear guidelines&#8221; that allows artists, labels, and publishers to signal interest in licensing their music to train AI models.<\/p>\n<p>Those using the platform can now indicate their interest in AI training licensing deals by marking songs as \u201cOpen to AI licensing.\u201d<\/p>\n from rightsholders for training purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The company explains that this selection registers rightsholders in a dedicated database, &#8220;creating a simple process for AI companies to seek BandLab<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">BandLab says that the new service was &#8220;developed in consultation with leading industry stakeholders&#8221; and calls the initiative &#8220;essential to advancing ongoing industry efforts to drive innovation, while ensuring that AI companies can follow responsible licensing practices that protect, rather than destroy the value of human creativity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The company stresses that &#8220;every AI training licensing opportunity presented through BandLab Licensing requires explicit approval from the href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/major-record-companies-sue-ai-music-generators-suno-udio-for-mass-infringement-of-copyright\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suing<\/a> platforms like <b>Suno<\/b> and <b>Udio<\/b> for allegedly training their systems using the majors\u2019 recordings without permission \u2013 an accusation they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/as-suno-and-udio-admit-training-ai-with-unlicensed-music-record-industry-says-theres-nothing-fair-about-stealing-an-artists-lifes-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pretty much admitted<\/a>\u00a0to in court filings last August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">However, <i>Bloomberg <\/i>reported last month that<b> Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, <\/b>and<b> Sony Music Entertainment<\/b> are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-warner-and-sony-in-talks-to-license-ai-music-generators-suno-and-udio-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seeking license fees<\/a> href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/suno-upgrades-ai-song-editor-as-labels-reportedly-push-for-content-id-style-fingerprinting-in-licensing-talks-with-ai-music-platforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unveiled<\/a> an upgraded version of its<b> Song Editor<\/b> tool, which enables users to upload work-in-progress tracks that can then be rearranged or remixed within Suno.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The update arrived as labels were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/media\/ai-music-licensing-universal-warner-sony-92bcbc0d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> to be pushing for a Content ID-style fingerprinting technology that would make it possible to track when and how a particular song is used by the AI
