Gaspin <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/news\/jeff-gaspin-joins-netflix-vp-unscripted-series-nbcu-1235918530\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joined<\/a> Netflix as VP of Unscripted Series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Riegg told the <i>WSJ <\/i>that Netflix could make the finale for <i>Building the Band <\/i>live if there is a second season.<i> <\/i>However, Gaspin said: \u201cWe don\u2019t want to do live for live\u2019s sake\u2026 If we are going to do live, we should have a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Another music competition is also in the pipeline, slated for release in the coming months, the sources told <i>WSJ<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #1\" data-params=\"dfp_spu1\" id=\"dfp_spu1\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The reported talks with <strong>Spotify<\/strong> reflect Netflix\u2019s growing focus on live programming and expanding its content after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/with-latest-price-increase-netflixs-standard-account-now-costs-72-more-per-year-than-spotify-in-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raising subscription prices<\/a> in the US for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/netflix-raises-prices-it-adds-9-million-subscribers-2023-10-18\/\">first time in nearly a year-and-a-half<\/a> in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Under its latest US pricing, Netflix increased the cost of its ad-free Standard plan, which allows for two simultaneous HD streams, by<b>\u00a0$2.50\u00a0<\/b>per month, to\u00a0<b>$17.99\u00a0<\/b>from<b>\u00a0$15.49<\/b>. The Premium tier, meanwhile, now costs\u00a0<b>$24.99<\/b>, up $2 from\u00a0<b>$22.99<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As <i>MBW <\/i>previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/with-latest-price-increase-netflixs-standard-account-now-costs-72-more-per-year-than-spotify-in-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pointed out<\/a>, Netflix\u2019s latest price adjustment widened an already significant gap with Spotify, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-hikes-prices-for-premium-subscribers-in-the-us-again12345\/\">raised<\/a>\u00a0its Premium subscription by\u00a0<b>$1<\/b>\u00a0per month to<b>\u00a0$11.99<\/b>\u00a0in June 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Netflix&#8217;s expansion into music content comes as streaming services compete for subscribers. Netflix reported<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/netflix-q1-2025-earnings-financial-results-subscriber-counts-1236371830\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <b>301.6 million <\/b>paid subscribers<\/a> by the end of 2024, up<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b> 16%<\/b><\/span> from a year earlier. The Sweden-headquartered company initially\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-challenges-youtube-launching-music-videos-for-premium-users-in-11-markets\/\">announced the launch<\/a>\u00a0of music videos in beta back in March 2025, when it offered the service in 11 countries \u2013 the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Kenya. It later added Egypt to the list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In October 2024, Spotify announced that it is expanding music video streaming to 85 new markets.
